Martin D. Levine

M.D.

Dr. Martin Levine is board-certified in neurology and psychiatry with many years of experience in treating some of the most difficult cases. He began his professional life, not as a physician, but as a musician, having attended the prestigious High School of Music and Art in New York City. There, he majored in woodwinds which included saxophone, clarinet, flute, and arghul.

Following graduation from high school, he wanted to pursue a carrier in medicine. He graduated from the State University of New York – Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Having decided not to continue a pursuit in the music field, he moved to California and entered an internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Following completion of the internship, Dr. Levine enrolled in the five-year combined neurology/psychiatry program at UCLA. He was accepted and completed his residency at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute; the traditional residency in neurology was 3 years, including only 1 month to 2 months of psychiatry, where as Dr. Levine’s rotation was 2 full years of psychiatry as well as 3 full years of neurology.

While in practice, he has been a representative to the California Medical Board, representing the LA County Medical Association.

Additional teaching duties on the clinical faculty at UCLA earned him the prestigious “Golden Hammer Award,” which was awarded by the residents and the faculty, voting him the teacher who provided the most educational experience to the residents and staff.
